A birth registration was found for Samuel Allander: Year of Registration: 1892; Quarter of Registration: Apr-May-Jun; District: Gateshead; County: Durham, Tyne and Wear; Volume: 10a; Page: 9[illegible]2. Mother: Agnes Allender.

In the March quarter of 1900, Agnes Allender married Edward Maloy in Gateshead, Durham, England.

In 1907, Samuel Allender, 15, arrived at Quebec, Canada, in a group of 243 Barnardo children en route to Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

On September 24, 1914, Samuel Allender (spelled as Alander), 22, enlisted in the Canadian Armed Forces. He declared that he was born in Newcastle, England; that his next of kin was Mrs. W. Alander, who resided at 36 Trinity Street, Gateshead, England; that his date of birth Was April 20, 1892; that he was a farmer; that he was single; and that he had previously served for 2 years in the 56 Lisgard Rifles. He was described as 5 foot 3-1/2 inches in height; fair complexion; brown eyes; light hair. He was a member of the Church of England. He had 3 vaccination marks on his upper right arm; 1 scar on his left sole; 1 scar on the back of his head; 1 small mole under his right arm pit; and scattered acne scars on the front of his chest.

On June 19, 1920, Samuel Allender, 29, arrived at Quebec, Canada, on the ship Sicilian, calling from Glasgow, Scotland. He declared that he was a returning Canadian, born in England, who resided at Cobourg Village, Ontario, Canada.

On November 29, 1924, at Cobourg, Northumberland, Ontario, Canada, a marriage was registered between Samuel Allender, 32, dyeworker, born in England to Henry James Allender and Agnes Younger; and Florence Evelyn Edgell, 24, mat maker, born in England to Henry Frederick Edgell and Annie Brown. Witnesses were Frederick John Edgell and Elsie Rollings, both of Cobourg.
