In 1895, Edgar Ammison, 16, arrived at Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, in a group of 133 Barnardo boys accompanied by Mr. A. B. Owen and en route to Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

On August 24, 1915, at Peterborough, Ontario, Canada, Edgar Armson, 35, enlisted in the Canadian Armed Forces. He declared that he was born in London, England; that his next of kin was his wife, Lizzie Armson, who resided at 585 Harvey Street, Peterborough, Ontario, Canada; that his date of birth was January 22, 1880; and that he was a powerhouse operator. He was described as 5 foot 5 inches in height; dark complexion; brown eyes; dark brown hair. He was a member of the Gospel Hall faith.

Edgar Armson returned to the UK and married Elizabeth (Lizzie) Bright. The couple had at least 3 children: Laura Armson, born March 1903, in Leicester, Leicestershire, England, and died 1984 in Brantford, Ontario, Canada; Charles Edgar Thomas Armson, born June 1906, in Leicester, Leicestershire, England, and died July 22, 1910, in Peterborough, Ontario, Canada; and Grace Armson.

Edgar Armson returned to Canada, leaving the UK on February 28, 1907, on the Sardinian. Lizzie Armson joined her husband leaving the UK on August 22, 1907, on the ship Southwark with their children, Charles and Louisa.
