NotesHarry Fry was born on September 28, 1894 in Lewes, England.

Harry and his brother, Alfred Edgar Fry, were admitted to one of the Barnardo homes in England on November 19, 1906. Their father, Harry Fry, died in 1902. Their mother, Mary Jane Fry, remarried a man named Ernest Short. She died in 1906 and the children were left with their step-father, Ernest Short. Harry and his brother were removed from the home of their step-father, at his insistence, and placed with the Barnardo organization in November of 1906.

Harry was sent to work on farms in Ontario, Canada, 1907 and was separated from his brother. He joined the Canadian army in 1915 to serve in World War I, but was killed in action at Vimy Ridge in 1917. He did not marry, but he did leave (step)-brothers and -sisters in England to mourn his death. No further information is known about his other siblings.
