Notes A marriage was recorded between William Henry Irwin and Winifred O'Neil in 1881 in Manchester, Lancashire, England.
A birth record was found for Winifred Alice Irwin, Year of Registration: 1895; Quarter of Registration: Oct-Nov-Dec; District: Wigan; County: Greater Manchester, Lancashire; Volume: 8c; Page: 106.
In the 1901 Census of England and Wales, Winifred is found with William H. Irwin, 41, a colly labourer; Winifred Irwin, 40; William Irwin, Jr., 19, a coal miner; Mary Irwin, 16, a coal pit brow girl; Margaret Irwin, 10; Sarah Irwin, 7; and John Irwin, 3.
In 1911, Winifred was shown as a domestic for Edward Symons and family in Hope, Durham, Ontario, Canada.
A marriage was recorded on March 18, 1918, between Charles Biggs, 22, and Winnifred Irwin, also 22, in London, Middlex, Canada. Winnifred declares she was born in London, England; and her parents' names were Saunders Irwin and Winnifred Williams, however a thorough search of the English marriage records, as well as census records failed to find these names whatsoever. This is almost certainly because Winnifred could not remember her parents' names or place of birth.
Charles and Winnifred Biggs had a son, Leonard Charles Biggs, born about 1921, and who died February 15, 2000. His obituary stated that his parents had predeceased him.
