Age 15, satisfactory home, employed at farm work, good health, attends Church of England, good character, he is contented and has a comfortable home. Mrs Purcell informs me that he is doing well and that they like him.

1911 Canadian Census records place Walter Noble as a Domestic in the household of Mary and Thomas McDonald in Leeds, Ontario. Walter was born in Oct 1888 and immigrated from England in 1903.

Attestation papers were signed 17 Sep 1915 in Brockville, Ontario. Walter William Noble was born 13 Oct 1890 in Middleborough, Yorkshire, England. He was a Locomotive Fireman by trade. His Next of Kin was Miss Sarah Noble c/o Mr. Robert Barnaby of St. Chad's Cottage Far Headingley, Leed, Yorkshire, England. 5'6" in height with brown eyes and light brown hair, he had tattoo spots at the base of each thumb, and a brown birth mark on his back between his shoulder blades. His religion was listed as Church of England.

Commonwealth War Graves Registers and Circumstances of Casualty states that he was Killed in Action in an attack north east of Courcelette, Somme, Picardie, France. Next of Kin was Miss Sarah Jane Noble of 16 Cross Barrach Street, Leeds, England and then Mrs. Z. M. Rutterford of 10 Cromer Terrace, Mount Preston, Leeds, England. His body was not recovered for burial, his name is listed on the Vimy Memorial in Vimy, Nord Pas de Calais, France.
