In 1901, Albert Humphrey, 1 year of age, was shown residing at 8 East Street, Plumstead West, London, England. Other family members included: lodger, Burt Buchanan, 25, Royal Arsenal labourer; Edward Humphrey, 3; George Humphrey, 12; John Humphrey, 39, musician; Robert Humphrey, 8; and Rose Humphrey, 35. Albert lived on New Trinity Road, Finchley at the time of his admittance to Norwood Home on December 3, 1909. Albert's sister, Amy Agnes Humphrey was admitted to the home on March 27, 1909 and emigrated to Canada on June 12, 1913.

Albert's father, John Humphrey, was invalided from Military service at age 48. He was a musician and reported to be a flautist. His mother, Rose Hannah (Elliott) Humphrey remarried a Mr. Hookway after her husband's death and lived in Plumstead on Bannockburn Road.

In 1910, Albert V. Humphrey, 10, arrived in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, along with a group of 395 Barnardo children en route to Toronto & Peterborough, Ontario, Canada.

In 1911, Albert Humphrey, 10, is shown as a home boy with Humphrey and Isabella Blunden in Sarnia, Lambton, Ontario, Canada. No date of birth and his immigration year shown is 1910.

On June 24, 1924, at Point Edward, Lambton, Ontario, Canada, a marriage was registered between Albert Verdie Humphrey, 24, laborer, born in England to Robert Humphrey and Sarah (does not know surname); and Vera Cann, 27, born in Sarnia, Ontario, Canada, to John Cann and Amelia Martin.

Albert's son and daughter-in-law took him to England in 1971 to reunite with his brothers and sisters.
