NotesA birth registration was found for Ada Edith Willis: Year of Registration: 1891; Quarter of Registration: Jan-Feb-Mar; District: Cricklade; County: Wiltshire; Volume: 5a; Page: 49. Parents: George Willis and Vashti Palmer.

When George Willis died in May, 1900, the family consisting of Vashti Willis; daughters Martha Lily age 22; Vashti Kate age 17; son George age 14; and Ada age 9, were residing at 11 Hawkins Street, Swindon, England.

Their mother, Vashti, could not look after the two youngest children and in May Ada and George were admitted to Barnardos. Ada was placed in a cottage called "Honeysuckle" in Barkingside.

In 1900, Ada Willis, 9, arrived at Quebec, Canada, in a group of 150 Barnardo girls en route to Peterborough, Ontario, Canada.

In 1908, her sister Martha tried to have Ada returned to England. She wrote that she was "now Mrs. Simpson 11 Harroway Road, Battersea, has a house of her own and would like to have the girl home". Martha and her husband Samuel Simpson immigrated to Canada in 1913. It is not known whether Martha was able to contact Ada.

Barnardo's replied that the "girl likely would not take kindly to Eng. life after living in Canada" and could not return her.

On August 23, 1913, at Toronto, York, Ontario, Canada, a marriage was registered between Ada Edith Willis, 21, born in Purton, England to William Willis and Vashti Palmer; and Charles Fredrick Coppins, 23, chauffeur, born in London, England, to Charles Coppins and Mary Taylor.

On May 12, 1915, Ada Coppins is shown as the next of kin, residing at 63 Allan Avenue, Toronto, Ontario, Canada, to Charles Frederick Coppins on his Attestation form for the Canadian Armed Forces. He signed up days before his son, Frederick George Coppins, was born. Charles' pay was sent to his wife in Canada until November 1915 when her address changed to 52 Darfield Road, Brockley, London. At the end of the war Charles chose to remain in England, but returned to Canada.

On 20 December 1915, Mrs Ada Coppins, 24, arrived in England with her son Frederick aged 1,

On 4 January 1919, Ada E Coppins, 26, arrived back in Canada, with son Frederick aged 4, she declared she had left Canada in 1915, but had previously lived there for 17 years. She was returning to 63 Allan Ave, Toronto.

After her return to Canada, Ada Edith Willis Coppins remarried John Alexander Page (previously married to Elizabeth Dean). No divorce has been found for either Ada or John, but the child of Ada's first marriage, Frederick George, was raised as Frederick George Page.
