On May 13, 1918, at Toronto, Ontario, Canada, Arthur Philbey, 22, was drafted into the Canadian Armed Forces. He declared that he resided at Shier Street, Bracebridge, Ontario, Canada; that his date of birth was April 6, 1896; that he was born in Wendover, England; that he was not married; that he was a member of the English Church; that he worked in the Saw Mills; that his next of kin was his mother, Mrs. Lydia Philbey, who resided at Shier Street, Bracebridge, Ontario, Canada. He was described as 5 foot 2 inches in height; fair complextion; gray eyes; and dark brown hair. He had a mole on the right side of his neck and a scar on the right leg above the knee.
