1916 Canada Census of Manitoba, Saskatchewan, and Alberta places Alex Salmon at 41, 20, 4, Can M R, Red Deer, Alberta. He is a single male born about 1886 in England having immigrated in 1904. On this same page is his brother, George Salmon.

Attestation papers were signed 29 Dec 1914 in Edmonton, Alberta. Alexander de Nadaillac Salmon was born 24 Jun 1886 in Truro, Cornwall, England. He was a Rancher by trade. His Next of Kin was his Brother, G. A. Salmon of Bashaw, Alberta. He had 2 years military experience with the Devon Volunteers. 6'2" in height with brown hair and brown eyes.
