NotesA birth registration was found for Frank Baldwin Albon: Year of Registration: 1889; Quarter of Registration: Jan-Feb-Mar; District: Staines; County: Middlesex; Volume: 3a; Page: 18. Parents: Amos Albon and Margaret Maben, married 1885 in Staines, Middlesex, England.

Frank Baldwin Albon was baptised on March 9, 1889, at Saint Mary the Virgin, Stanwell, Middlesex, England. Parents registered as Amost and Margaret Albon.

Frank was admitted to a Dr Barnardo's home in March 1893 after the death of his mother (Margret Albon) and the tragic suicide of his father (Amos Albon). (A death registration was found for Name: Amos Albon; Estimated Birth Year: abt 1853; Year of Registration: 1893; Quarter of Registration: Jan-Feb-Mar; Age at Death: 40; District: Lambeth; County: Greater London, London, Surrey; Volume: 1d; Page: 236.)

In 1900, Frank Albon, 11, arrived at Quebec, Canada, in a group of 162 Barnardo boys en route to Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

He joined the Canadian Expeditionary Forces in Winnipeg on the 24th Feb. 1916 becoming a member of the 100th Winnipeg Grenadiers. He declared that was not married; he was living at the Lacy Hotel, Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada; Mr J.H. Lund was his next-of-kin; he was a Railway Fireman. He was 5'8", fully expanded chest size of 37 3/4" with 2" expansion room, fair complexion, fair hair and grey eyes. He had no distinguishing marks or peculiarities. His religion was Epistical (their spelling).

His brother, Amos Albon, who remained in England, tried to keep in touch with both Frank and Mildred in Canada, but he lost touch with Frank (who changed his name to Allen after the war) and believed that Frank had died during World War I. Both Mildred and Amos, went on trying to locate him through Barnados every decade. Mildred and Amos were in continuous contact despite the physical distance that divided them.

Barnardos tried to locate Frank contacting the Canadian Pacific Railway Company, the Lund's, The National Registration Bureau and the Department of National Defense, but without success.
