NotesHe went to West Ham Union School 1901-1908 in London, England.

In 1908, Henry Gibbs, 12, arrived at Quebec, Canada, in a group of 91 MacPherson children accompanied by Mr. J. M. Merry en route to Stratford, Ontario, Canada.

Henry was never reunited with his family after he was sent to Canada at 12 years of age. He was placed in the Oxford County district of Ontario, Canada.

On September 6, 1915, Henry Gibbs, 25, farm labourer, enlisted in the Canadian Armed Forces. He declared that he was born in London, England; that his next of kin was Arthur McGinnis, who resided at 2 R.R., Burgessville, Ontario, Canada; that his date of birth was June 20, 1890; that he was a farm labourer; and that he was not married. He was described as 5 foot 7 inches in height; fair complexion; blonde hair; blue grey eyes. He was a member of the Presbyterian faith. He had a large scar on his left lower neck.

He went back to England when he joined the Army during World War I.

Henry Gibbs married a English girl, Rose Ethel King (born May 1, 1891, daughter of Arthur Charles Calver King and Amelia Louise Last), on March 13, 1917, at the Church of the Ascension, Battersea, England.

He returned to Canada with her and a daughter, Elizabeth Mildred, after the war was over. Another child, Ernest Henry Gibbs (born May 20, 1920, died June 7, 1945).

Henry Gibbs died on September 1, 1958 in Canada. Rose Ethel King Gibbs died on November 2, 1988, in Canada.
