NotesWalter A. Clarke, Cecil E. Clarke, Henrietta Clarke, and Emily Clarke were admitted to Norwood School, Lambeth Union, June 3, 1897. The four children had been removed from St. Olave's Union.

Their mother was dead. Their father, William Clarke, had deserted the children. An older sister, E. M. Clarke, was in service at "Glenhurst" in Upper Norwood.

Walter Clarke discharged to situation as house boy at Mrs. Stone's, Upper Norwood, on March 21, 1898.

Henrietta Clarke discharged to service at Miss Blomfield's "Glenhurst" Fountain Road, Upper Norwood, on December 12, 1899.

Emily and Cecil Clarke discharged to Barnardo's Home on August 1, 1900.

In 1900, Cecil Clarke, 10, arrived at Quebec, Canada, in a group of 101 Barnardo boys en route to Toronto, Ontario, Canada (sister Emily Clarke was on the same voyage).

Age 12, good home, employed at chores, good health, attends Presbytarian Church, good character. Terms-$100 at expiration of five years and attendance at the Public School. Cecil Clarke is a fine, bright, healthy lad. He has improved much during the past year; is kindly treated and has no reason to complain. At the same time, I do not think he is permitted to waste much time. However, he appears to be thriving well.
