On 24 September 1899, Alan Joseph Ansell was baptised at Saint Mary, Whitechapel, son of Charles James and Charlotte Mary of 13 Cotton St, father's occupation-Traveller, (Mineral Water?)

He declared that he was residing in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, Canada; that his contact in Canada was his friend, Peter Alger, who resided in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, Canada; that his final destination was Detroit, Michigan; that he paid his own passage; that he had $45 on his person; that he had no address for his time in the USA; that he was born in Eastbourne, England; and that he immigrated on the Dominion in October, 1905. He was described as 5 foot 5 inches in height; dark complexion; blue eyes; brown hair; and a scar on his left knee.

On November 24, 1913, Allen Ansell, 20, laborer, was debarred from entering the United States through Detroit, Michigan. He had declared that he was residing in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, Canada; that he had not contacts or relations in Canada; that his final destination was Detroit, Michigan; that he had been in the United States previously in 1913; and that he suffered from trachoma. Grounds for exclusion from entering were D.C.D Trachoma (Mental or physical defectives and diseased aliens (Loathsome or dangerous contagious disease)) and unable to cross the border.

He declared that he was residing in Sarnia, Ontario, Canada; that he had no relatives in Canada; that he paid his own passage; that he carried $100 on his person; that he was going to visit his friend, Isaac Ellis, who resided at 596 Macomb, Detroit, Michigan.

On June 5, 1917, Allen J. Ansell, 22, registered for the draft in the United States Armed Forces as an alien. He declared that he resided at 596 Macomb, Detroit, Michigan; that he was born in London, England; that his date of birth was June 11, 1894; that he was an oiler for Detroit United Ry.; and that he was not married. He was described as medium stature; medium height; gray eyes; and dark hair. It was noted that he was residing at 27 Montgomery, Youngstown, Ohio on December 10, 1917.

In 1942, Allen Joseph Ansell, 47, registered for the Selective Service of the United States. He declared that he was born in London, England ("has papers"); that he resided at 1941 E. Midlothian Avenue, Youngstown, Ohio; that his next of kin was his wife, Rosetta Ansell, who resided at the same address; and that he was employed by the Fitzsimmons Co., 1636 Wilson Avenue, Youngstown, Ohio.

Allen Joseph Ansell died at a nursing home in Struthers, Mahoning, Ohio, USA, at 3:40 AM on November 22, 1990, at the age of 96 (Certificate: 085660). He was widowed, and had been employed as a stationary engineer before he retired.
