Notes[POSSIBLE MATCH] A birth registration was found for Alexander Black: Year of Registration: 1899; Quarter of Registration: Oct-Nov-Dec; District: Salford; County: Greater Manchester, Lancashire; Volume: 8d; Page: 194.

In 1912, Alexander Angus Black, 12, arrived at Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, in a group of 154 Middlemore children.

On February 25, 1916, Alexander Angus Black, who stated he was 18 years of age, registered for the Canadian Armed Forces. He declared that he was residing in Melville, New Brunswick, Canada; that he was born in Fifeshire, Scotland; that his next of kin was his brother, Arthur Black, who resided in Birmingham, England; that his date of birth was December 16, 1893 (along with a notation that reads: birth certificate shows date of birth as 16/12/1899 that his occupation was farming; and that he was not married. The attestation denotes that he was not to be sent overseas until he reached the age of 19 years. He was described as 5 foot 3 inches in height; dark complexion; brown eyes; dark brown hair. He was a member of the Presbyterian faith. He had four vaccination marks on his left arm.

106th Battalion. Yet another of the British home children included among the WWI Boularderie soldiers, Alexander Angus Black was born in Scotland and came to Canada as a 12-year-old in 1912. He lived at Mill Pond, Boularderie, with the family of John William Urquhart. In his enlistment document he gave his occupation as farmer and listed his brother Arthur of Birmingham, England, as his next-of-kin.
