Prior to being transferred to Hotel Dieu,Mrs.Ross has been a patient for seven weeks at St.Vincent de Paul Hospital in Brockville. Annie Black was born in Glasgow,Scotland on September 30,1900 and was the daughter of the late James Morris Black and his wife,the former Mary Whalan.She immigrated to Canada at a young age and was later married to Stanley Ross who predeceased her on November 29,1965.The couple lived for a number of years in Athens.Following the death of her husband,Mrs.Ross moved to Brockville.Her main interests were her home and family. Mrs.Ross is survived by a son and daughter-in-law,Willard and Irene Ross and another son and daughter in-law,Clifford and Donna Ross and a daughter and son in-law,Jo Anne and Dave Darrah,all of Brockville. She is also survived by a brother George Black of Glasgow,several nieces and nephews in Scotland and Wales,10 grandchildren,12 great-grandchildren and a great niece,Carol Wilgosh of Lyn and two great nephews,John Sharpe of Brockville and Jim Sharpe of Surry,B.C. She was predeceased by a son Tommy,who was drowned at age 5 and by four brothers and three sisters,all of Glasgow,Scotland. Friends were received at the Jonhston-Barclay Funeral Home,68 King Street East,where the funeral was held in the chapel on Thursday,November 24,with Rev.Andrew Plumrage officiating.Interment followed in the family plot at Holy Trinity-Oak Leaf Cemetery at Oak Leaf, southwest of Athens. Pallbearers,grandsons of Mrs.Ross,were Terry,Chris and Junior Ross, Steve and Mark Darrah and great-grandson Scot Kitson. Memorial donations to the Canadian Cancer Society and the Holy Trinity-Oak Leaf Cemetery will be gratefully acknowledged.
