NotesParents: Jeremiah Callaghan and Mary Ann Parker married 1857 in Kensington, London, England.

In 1887, Edward Callaghan, 16 (along with brother, Louis Callaghan, 15), arrived at Quebec, Canada, in a group of 60 boys accompanied by Cardinal Manning and en route to Ottawa, Ontario, Canada.

"Copy of Reports of Inspection of Pauper Children sent out to Canada made by Immigration Officers of the Dominion Government and received from the Colonial Office on the 12th December 1888.

Report of Mr. W. J. Wills, Government Immigration Agent at Ottawa.

Edw. Callaghan, aged 17. From parish of Paddington. Placed with Jeremiah Ryan, Lot 10, Con. 4., Osceola P.O., Co. Renfrew.?A very good boy, no school, well clothed, and well placed."

On November 6, 1911, at the Catholic Church of Almonte, Lanark, Ontario, Canada, a marriage was registered between Edward Callaghan, 38, stonecutter, son of Jeremiah Callaghan and Mary Ann Parker; and Bridget Murphy, 36, widow, millhand, daughter of John Murphy and Eliza Guy. [EDITORS NOTE: Bridget Murphy Allman was the widow of Edward's shipmate, Michael Joseph Allman. He died in 1908 of pulmonary tuberculosis.]
