NotesA birth registration was found for Richard Insall Carloss: Year of Registration: 1873; Quarter of Registration: Oct-Nov-Dec; District: Clifton; County: Gloucestershire; Volume: 6a; Page: 122. Parents: Richard Insall Carloss and Mary Townley, married 1857, Tewkesbury, Gloucestershire, England.

In 1886, R Carless, 14 (along with brother A Carloss, 16), arrived at Quebec, Canada, in a group of 9 boys from Barton Regis Union, Bristol, Gloucestershire, England, accompanied by Mr. Bird, and en route to Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada.

"Copy of Reports of Inspection of Pauper Children sent out to Canada made by Immigration Officers of the Dominion Government and received from the Colonial Office on the 12th December 1888.

Richard Carloss, now aged 15. From Barton Regis Union. Now with Jas. Killicher, Springfield. Left James Killam.?Mr. Killicher and sister report him a very good boy. He tells me he likes his present home, where he has been two years, and doesn't want to leave it; will write Miss Clifford, and report well of his home, and well he may; it is a splendid home, in fact no poor homes in King's County."

Carloss, 26, baker, born in Bristol, England, to Richard and Mary Carloss; and another home child, Mary Ann Britton, 23, born in Bristol, England, to John and Mary A. Britton. Arthur R. Carloss was a witness to the marriage.

Mary Ann Brittain Carloss died prior to 1901.

On June 22, 1904, at Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada, a marriage was registered between Richard I. Carloss, 30, widower, baker, bron in Bristol, England, to Richard and Mary Carloss; and Ella May Almon, 25, born in Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada, to Edward and Christiana Almon. Arthur Richard Carloss and Josie K. Carloss were witnesses to the marriage.

Richard Insall and Ella May Almon Carloss had at least 2 children: Arthur Richard Carloss, born February 3, 1907; and Bessie May Carloss, June 15, 1905.

Richard Insall Carloss died on January 17, 1955, at Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada.
