Notes A birth registration was found for George Albert Castelnovo; Year of Registration: 1901; Quarter of Registration: Jan-Feb-Mar; District: Holborn; County: London, Middlesex; Volume: 1b; Page: 744. Parents: Sarah Ann Eliza Long and Jescard Albert Giacomo Castelnovo (married Dec 1893).
In 1901, Geo Castlenovo, 2 months of age, is shown with his mother, Sarah Castlenovo, 34, living on her own means, visiting with Charles and Amelia Long [EDITORS NOTE: Charles and Amelia were Sarah's mother and younger brother], at 120 Marlboro, Holloway, Islington, London, England. (EDITORS NOTE: Husband Jescard was not listed. He worked in a hotel so he may have been there. It is thought he later died of consumption, though no death certificate has yet been found.)
Sarah remarried c. 1907 to a Robert James Mandeno. It is thought that Sarah was forced by her second husband to give away her children from her first marriage. It does not appear that she ever had any contact with them again.
In 1911, George Castlenova, 10, arrived in Quebec, Canada, along with a group of 63 Roman Catholic children possibly en route to Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, accompanied by Miss Joyce. His sister, Millicent (Long) Castelnova arrived in October, 1911, on the Victorian with the Catholic Emigration Society.)
