Notes Robert Cavanagh - 1985
On May 1, Robert Cavanagh passed away at the home of Mr. and Mrs. John R Sheffield, Lyndhurst, after an illness of ten days. Deceased was born in Glasgow, Scotland and came to canada when about ten years of age. He attended school in Glasgow, and at Long Point Public School. He was a farmer and for practically all his life assisted a the farm of Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Singleton, at Singleton Lake. After the death of mr. Singleton, he moved to Lyndhurst with Mrs. Singleton, and a few months ago, when he became ill, he moved to the home of Mr. and Mrs. John R. Sheffield, who cared for him so kindly during those months, and during his last illness.
Mr. Cavanagh never married. He had one sister and two brothers, all deceased. He was the oldest member of the Lyndhurst Orange Lodge.
The funeral was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. John R Sheffield on May 2 and was conducted by Rev. S. Cook, a retired clergyman of the United Church, of which Mr. Chvanagh, was a member.
The pallbearers were Bland Love, Allison McEllroy, Chas. Oalway, Herb Eaton, Johnson Plunkett and Roy Slack. Interment was at Olivet Cemetery in the Singleton plot.
