In 1901, Ethel M. Cresser, 5 years of age, was shown residing at No. 7, Dryden Place, Parliment Street, Deritend, Aston, Warwickshire, England. Other family members included: Elsie E. Cresser, 3; Frederick Cresser, 36, bricklayers labourer; George Cresser, 4 months; and Mary E. Cresser, 28. (Source: Class: RG13; Piece: 2861; Folio: 126; Page: 18.)

In 1906, Ethel Cresser, 9 (along with sister, Elsie Cresser, 7) arrived at Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, with a group of 159 children from Middlemore Homes, Birmingham, England.

On December 23, 1914, at Florence, Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, a marriage was registered between Ethel May Cresser, 20, born in Birmingham, England, to Frederick and Mary Cresser; and William Charles Fry, 37, widower, miner, born in Barjus, Newfoundland, to Thomas and Mary Ann Fry. Ethel and William Fry had 11 children: Annie Fry; Elsie Fry; Genieve Fry; Arthur James Fry; Frederick T. Fry; George Fry; Kenneth Fry; Marion Fry; Reggie Fry (twin); Clarence Chester Fry (twin); and Joseph Fry.
