He was discharged after 5 months due to flat feet, and re-enlisted on 8 August 1917

On 8 August 1917, Douglas Joseph Dewey born March 12 1896 Portsmouth, enlisted in Canadian Army, he gave his next of kin
as brother-John Austin Dewey, Canterbury, NB, that he lived in Canterbury Stn, and was a fireman. He had previously been with the 115th CEF and 62nd Home Service
