He was named as his brother Douglas's next of kin when he enlisted in 1916 and 1917.

His father was William George Dewey and his mother was Mildred Annie Cox. He had two brothers named Thomas Charles and Douglas Joseph Dewey. He had a half brother named William George Dewey. His mother died in 1899. Father remarried Ellen Tolly. He died in McAdam New Brunswick Canada in 1974. He married Berth Lillian Cleland. I am his great niece.
