In 1887, Henry Derrigate, 15 (along with brother, Alfred Derriate, 13), arrived at Quebec, Canada, in a group of children from Croydon Union Workhouse.

Harry Dungate returned to England on June 11, 1894, on the ship Labrador. He returned on October 12, 1894, on the same ship.
Henry Dungate married Martha Emery, daughter of Orlando Emery and Rosetta Johnson. The couple had at least 3 children: Ethel Dungate; Henry Austin Dungate (born February 16, 1908, and died May 16, 1941 in Stanstead, Quebec, Canada); and Mildred Dungate.
