On June 27, 1934, at St. Josephs Hospital, Peterborough, Ontario, Canada, Bert Emmerson, 25, taxi driver, residing at 97 Hunter Street W., Peterborough, Ontario, Canada, died of gastritis and duodenitis (inflammation of the duodenum (the first part of the small intestine that connects to the stomach) with dilatation (stomach distention or enlargement), duration 2 months. An operation for a duodenal ulcer preceded his death. Bert is buried at Little Lake Cemetery, Peterborough, Ontario, Canada, along with 46 other Barnardo children who were a part of Hazlebrae House.
