In 1902, Minerva Flaxman, 10 (along with her sisters, Matilda Flaxman, 11, and Ethel Flaxman, 9), arrived at Boston, Massachusetts, USA, in a group of 400 Barnardo children en route to Toronto and Peterborough, Ontario, Canada. (Matilda may have travelled with her sister, Minnie (Minerva) Flaxman.)

On December 1, 1909, at Toronto, York, Ontario, Canada, a marriage was registered between Minnie Flaxman, 20, cutter, daughter of Robert Flaxman and Louise Nye; and Alexander McCloy, 22, commercial traveller, son of William McCloy and Jean Campell.
