In 1901, Lottie Flaxman, 10, was shown residing at 45 Havelock Road, Bromley, Kent, England. Other family members included: Robert Flaxman, 32, builders labourer; Louisa Flaxman, 33, laundress; Albert Flaxman, 13; Matilda Flaxman, 12; Minnie Flaxman, 11; Freddy Flaxman, 9; Reuben Flaxman, 6; James Flaxman, 4; Charles Flaxman, 1. In 1902, Ethel Flaxman, 9 (along with her sisters, Matilda Flaxman, 11, and Minerva Flaxman, 10), arrived at Boston, Massachusetts, USA, in a group of 400 Barnardo children en route to Toronto and Peterborough, Ontario, Canada. (Matilda may have travelled with her sister, Minnie (Minerva) Flaxman.)

On October 25, 1911, at Toronto, York, Ontario, Canada, a marriage was registered between Ethel C. Flaxman, 20, cutter, daughter of Robert Flaxman and Louise Nye; and Stanley R. Kitchen, 20, farmer, son of James J. Kitchen and Alice M. Brown.

Stanley R. and Ethel Charlotte Flaxman Kitchen had at least two children: Elwood E. Kitchen born January 3, 1915 in Rothwell, Manitoba, Canada - died March 9, 1991; and T. L. Kitchen.
