Feb 9 1903, with Murdoch McPhee, Fleming, Assiniboia

Age 13, good home, employed at chores, excellent health, has not attended church or school since coming here.
Character-an honest truthful and industrious boy.
Terms-Mr McPhee left some weeks ago for Monticello, Indiana, USA. The agreement cannot be found, and McPhee's hired man
knows nothing about it except that Mr McPhee told him it was for five years for the sum of $120. A rumour being curreent that
McPhee is not coming back I saw to it that a responsible farmer in the neighbourhood, if anything happens, will take the boy until the Barnardo authorities are communicated with. The boy tells me that he has been well treated by the family, and that he is quite contented with his place. I am not inclined to believe the rumour afloat, but under the circumstances considered it my duty to take the precaution referred to above. This an exceptionally nice lad, with a frank open countenance, and gentle manner. He reads fairly well, but writes very poorly and should have schooling.
