NotesIn 1883, John McCarthy, 9, arrived at Quebec, Canada, in a group of 35 Catholic children from the Liverpool Catholic Children's Protection Society accompanied by Father Nugent and en route to Hamilton, Ontario, Canada.

"Sixteenth Annual Report of the Local Government Board, 1886-87; Copy of Reports of Inspection of Children sent out to Canada, as of February 12, 1887.

Report of Mr. R. Mcpherson, Government Immigration Agent at Kingston, Ontario.

John McCarthy, aged 11, from West Derby Union, placed with Michael Webb, transferred to John Webb, Brewers Mills P.O., lot 85, 10 Con., Pittsburgh. Good boy to work, bad tempered, not altogether trustworthy, but improving, fairly well used. Report by Mrs. Michael Webb."
