NotesIn 1914, James McKenzie, 17, arrived at Quebec, Canada, along with another boy, Hugh McDougall, 15, who were en route to Cossar Farm, Receiving Home and Distributing Centre for Scotch Lads, near Lower Gagetown, New Brunswick, Canada.

James is remembered by a monunument to the Cossar Farm boys who served in the Great War:

"In loving memory of the boys of Cossar Farm killed in action in the Great War and died in Canada"
