NotesCatherine was admitted to Barnardo Homes in Jan 1898, at the age of one year. Her sister, Rose Alice, was admitted three months prior. The girls were admitted to the home by their mother, Mary Ann Neal (nee Butler) after the death of their father, Herbert Henry Neal.

Both girls came to Canada (Peterborough) in 1905. Catherine spent time in a few different homes in Ontario, but migrated further west, to Saskatchewan, in 1915.

In 1917, at the age of 21, she married. Unfortunately, Catherine did not live a long life, dying at age 42 of pneumonia in 1938. During the course of her life, she had seven children, two of whom survived past infancy. The surviving children, my father and uncle, were two years old and five years old respectively when Catherine passed away and they have no memories of her.
