In 1915, Elizabeth's brother Matthew enlisted in the First World War and she was noted as his Next of Kin living in Arnprior, Ontario, Canada. She was again mention in 1918 upon his Grave Register when he was Killed in Action, this time as living at Box 437 Brockville, Ontario.
The girls brother, Matthew Paton, enlisted in WWI in 1915 and died in Cagnicourt, Nord Pas de Calais, France on 2 Sep 1918.
