NotesErnest was one of 23 children aged 8 to 13 who arrived in Fremantle, Western Australia from Southampton aboard 'Jervis Bay' in February 1934, bound for Fairbridge Farm School, Pinjarra. He was 13 years old.

Ernest arrived with his younger brother Reginald (12). Their mother Jane had died in 1926 aged 28.

He served in the Australia Army in WWII, reaching the rank of Corporal (Source: NAA RecordSearch):
