A death registration was found for Alison Stirling, 47, married to John Stirling, cabinetmaker (journeyman): Date: August 3, 1883, 9:15 AM; Place: 21 First Thomas Street, Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland; Parents: George Brown (reputed father), (deceased) and Janet Erchmont, housekeeper (deceased); Cause: Phthisis Pulmonalis, some months.

In 1886, Jessie Sterling, 8, arrived at Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, in a group of 29 Scottish children accompanied by Miss Stirling, Edinburgh, Scotland and en route to Aylesford, Nova Scotia, Canada.
