Newspaper article from the Toronto Star, 10 Sep 1918 states that Private J. W. Styles' sister, Miss. B. Styles had received word of her brother's death. James had been sick, and had apparently died the day before his 20th birthday (Although his attestation states his date of birth as 30 May 1898). Miss Styles was of 88 Prince Arthur Ave in Toronto. James had enlisted in Quebec in 1916 and served with the 148th Highlanders, then was transferred to the 42nd Highlanders.

26 Oct 1918 in Toronto, Ontario Beatrice Styles born in England around 1896, daughter of Emily Day and William Styles was married to Myette Reardon Garcia of Spain.
