Parents: Edwin Holman Tatum, boot salesman, and Jessie Heitman, married 1889 in Camberwell, Surrey, England.

A death registration was found for Edwin Tatum; Estimated Birth Year: abt 1867; Year of Registration: 1897; Quarter of Registration: Jul-Aug-Sep; Age at Death: 30; District: Wandsworth; County: Greater London, London, Surrey; Volume: 1d; Page: 356.

After their father's death, their mother was destitute. Edwin, Florence and Herbert Tatum were turned over to the Camberwell Board of Guardians, who adopted them. The Guardians arranged immigration to Canada for Edwin Tatum through Fegan's Homes.

In 1909, Edwin Tatum, 14, arrived at Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada, in a group of 108 Fegan boys en route to Toronto, Ontario, Canada. (His sister, Florence Tatum, 16, arrived on the Virginan with Waifs & Strays in 1909.)

Family legend has it that Florence came to Canada to take care of Jack, who was not doing very well with his Fegan placement.

On January 10, 1916, at Brampton, Ontario, Canada, Edwin Arthur Tatum, 21, enlisted in the Canadian Armed Forces (Service No. 775580). He declared that he resided at Palgrave, Ontario, Canada; that he was born in Battersea, England; that his next of kin was his mother, Jessie Tatum, who resided at 89 Scylla Road, Nunhead, England; that his date of birth was October 30, 1894; that he was a farmer; and that he was not married. He was described as 5 foot 8-3/4 inches in height; fair complexion; brown eyes; light hair. He was a member of the Church of England.

On October 12, 1922, at Nobleton, Ontario, Canada, a marriage was registered between Edwin Arthur Tatum, 27, labourer, born in England to Edwin Arthur Tatum and Jessie Heidmand; and Annie Agar, 28, born in Nobleton, Ontario, Canada, to Joseph Agar and Eliza Kitson.

Edwin Arthur and Annie Irene Agar Tatum had one child: Margaret Ruth Tatum, born Dec 3, 1923 in Palgrave, Ontario, Canada.

Annie Irene Agar Tatum died on August 28, 1935, at the age of 41, in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

Edwin Arthur Tatum died on May 6, 1976, at the age of 81, in Barrie, Ontario, Canada.
