Notes Victor Thatcher was admitted with brother, Alfred, to Lambeth Union Schools on April 26, 1894. Their father, George, died November 3, 1896, in Claybury Asylum. Their mother, Annette's, address was unknown. Their sister, Ada, 17, resided at Burrell Street, Blackfriars Road. Their grandfather, Edward Raynor, greengrocer, 17 Burrell Street, Blackfriars Road, was paying 5/- towards the maintenance of the boys, but died prior to 1900.
Victor was discharged to the Church of England's Waifs & Strays Society for emigration to Canada on September 24, 1903; Alfred was discharged to Barnardo's Homes on August 1, 1900.
In 1903, Victor Thatcher, 13, arrived at Quebec, Canada, in a group of 21 Waifs & Strays children en route to Sherbrooke, Quebec, Canada.
[EDITORS NOTE: He may be the same Victor Thatcher, who returned to England in 1911 on the Virginian, and served in the London Regiment during World War I, who was killed in action in 1917.]
