Notes In 1887, Caroline Whapshott, 14 (along with sister, Mary Whapshott, 11) arrived at Quebec, Canada, in a group of 18 children from Croydon Union Workhouse accompanied by Rev. R. F. Winter and en route to various places.
"Copy of Reports of Inspection of Pauper Children sent out to Canada made by Immigration Officers of the Dominion Government and received from the Colonial Office on the 12th December 1888.
Report of Mr. P. Doyle, Assistant Immigration Agent at Quebec. Caroline Whapshott, aged 14. From Croydon Union. Placed with Mrs. W. Doran, Mount. Pleasant, P. Q.?Mrs. Doran gives good report, comfortable home, well clad, good health, child satisfied with her place."
