In 1901, the Wilkins family were residing at the home of Amelia Wilkins' father, John Freeth, 69, porter, at Victoria Terrace, Bell Barn Road, Edgbaston, Warwickshire, England. Other family members included: Edward H. Wilkins, 8 months; William Freeth, 15, butchers apprentice; Amelia Wilkins, 22; and Edward Wilkins, 22, butcher journeyman. [POSSIBLE MATCH] A death registration was found for Edward Wilkins: Estimated Birth Year: abt 1879; Year of Registration: 1907; Quarter of Registration: Jan-Feb-Mar; Age at Death: 28; District: Aston (1837-1924); County: Warwickshire; Volume: 6d; Page: 200.

Family tradition held that Edward's father died young in England leaving a young wife and 5 small children. The two oldest were sent to the Blue Coat School, and a few years later the three youngest were sent to Canada with Middlemore. Edward's mother came to Canada and worked as a domestic in Manitoba then later sent for her two children left in England at the Blue Coat School. They arrived in Montreal where Edward worked chopping ice in the St. Lawrence for a while before heading west to join his mother.

On May 15, 1912, Amelia E. Wilkins, 33, widow, arrived at Quebec, Canada, aboard the ship Scandinavian, en route to Lyleton, Manitoba, Canada, as a domestic.

In 1914, Nellie H. Wilkins, 13, arrived at Quebec, Canada, along with her brother, Edward H. Wilkins, 14, en route to Pierson, Manitoba, Canada.

Amelia Eliza Freeth Wilkins married again to William McNish on February 13, 1918, in Brandon, Manitoba, Canada.

On October 3, 1918, at Melita, Manitoba, Canada, Nellie Harriet Wilkins married John Alfred Henry Baker. (Reg. No. 1918,058012).
