NotesIn 1887, John Winter, 6 (along with brother Thomas Winter, 4) arrived at Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, with a group of 117 Quarrier children accompanied by Mrs. Bilbrough Wallace and en route to the Marchmont Home, Belleville, Ontario, Canada. (In Canada, the boys were separated, but eventually found each other.)

In 1891, John Winter, 11, born in Scotland, was shown as a lodger with Charles and Margret Miller of Burgess North, Lanark South, Ontario, Canada.
