Parents: Arthur Worthington and Mary Ann Eliza Smith, married March 29, 1902, Wesleyan Chapel, Barton upon Irwell, Lancashire, England.

Mary Ann Eliza Smith Worthington had been a nurse at Salford Union. She died May 13, 1911, at Sheffield Hospital, Sheffield, Yorkshire, England, of consumption.

When her mother died, Muriel and her family were living in Sheffield, Yorkshire, England. She was placed in Barnardo's Home by her father. He also tried to have them take her sister, Evelyn, but she was not accepted at that time.

In 1914, Muriel Worthington, 10, arrived at St. John, New Brunswick, Canada, in a group of 98 Barnardo girls en route to Peterborough, Ontario, Canada.

On September 6, 1922, at Stayner, Simcoe, Ontario, Canada, a marriage was registered between Muriel Worthington, 19, household duties, born in England to Arthur and Mary Ann Eliza Worthington; and another home child, James Balfour Adamson, 27, mechanic, born in Scotland to James Adamson and Christina Daniels.

James Balfour and Muriel Worthington Adamson had at least 6 children: Eric Albert Adamson, born 1929; Bernard Arthur Adamson, born 1933; and 4 children still living.

On February 8, 1964, James Balfour Adamson died at the age of 71, of colon cancer. On January 15, 1989, Muriel Worthington Adamson died of gangrene and heart failure. They are both buried at Stayner Union Cemetery, Simcoe County, Ontario, Canada.
