NotesElizabeth Anna Young was born to Thomas and Elizabeth Ann Young (nee Down/Doron possibly based on marriage record of her daughter) either on 3 July 1864 (1901 census) or 7 Aug 1865 (Baptism record) in St. George in the East, Middlesex, England. On the 1871 census she is recorded living with her mother (born abt. 1847) and 2 younger brothers Thomas(born 9 Sept 1967) and Charles Robert (born 1 Jan 1870) at 2 Princes Street in St. George in the East. Her father died in the Raine Workhouse by their home on 3 Dec 1870 after being admitted on 7 Nov 1870 (records show he was sick and destitute). Her mother was a seamstress. Elizabeth, Thomas, and Charles were baptised at St. Peter's Church across the street from their home and the workhouse on 4 April 1871 with the address listed as 1 Princes Street.

In 1872, the Limehouse Children's establishment records show that Elizabeth, Thomas and Charles were admitted on November 19 after being abandoned by their mother. Limehouse was a part of the Stepney Union. In 1873 the Children's Establishment at Limehouse was closed and in June of that year Elizabeth and her brother Thomas were sent to the South Metropolitan District School at Banstead, in Surrey. (The 1881 Census for the South Metropolitan District Schools in Sutton, Surrey shows Thomas Young, age 13, Scholar, born in Stepney, Middlesex and Charles Young, age 11, Scholar, born in Stepney, Middlesex).

In June of 1874 Elizabeth was sent to Canada along with other children from Stepney Union, as part of the Maria Rye party. It is unknown what happened to her brothers Thomas and Charles, or if she had other siblings.

Upon arrival in Ontario, Canada, Elizabeth was placed with Thomas Rumble and family near Blenheim in Kent County. In the 1881 Census Elizabeth is shown living with James Lawrence and his wife Matilda and their five children. The Lawrence's farmed near Harwick in Kent County. Elizabeth said that she was well treated by the families that she lived with.

On 3 August 1882 Elizabeth married Francis J. Wrightsell at the United Presbyterian Church of Blenheim. Francis J. Wrightsell was born 4 December 1853, in Bradford or Brantford Ontario.

Elizabeth and Francis had 9 children:

Rose B. 3 July 1885
Annie Maud 3 April 1887
George Henry. 28 January 1889
Gertha May. 9 February 1891
Charles Clinton. 19 June 1892. Died in Detroit, Michigan 2 March 1928.
