William's family moved to Bad Mergentheim in 1851, he was confirmed in protestant church there aged 13. Emigrated to Birmingham 1895 and worked in a sausage factory. Worked at Bauer Casings in Crown Street, Wolverhampton 1899 onwards. Interned during WW1 in Surrey first followed by Knockaloe on the Isle of Man. Separated from his wife sometime between then and 1948. Died in Wolverhampton aged 82.
