Carl changed his last name to Wilson in 1916 in response to anti-German sentiments during WWI. He and his brothers Paul and Adolf formed Wilson Brothers Limited and had numerous shops throughout London. In 1935 they had 14 shops (Source: limehouse79 and Family Records).
