He retired in or before 1881(He obviously gave the business to his son William Meyer). He was a butcher journeyman for ID 679 Ludwig Frederick Roll of Wakefield in 1851.
In 1891 F. Myer was still trading aged 76 in 25 Raneleigh Road
He died in 1916 leaving £30,283 which was an enormous amount of money in those days!
