Notes The above were my Grandparents. I have been trying to find out about thier history, what they were like. Both died before I was born. As a child my father, Charles Uebel would regale me with stories about his fathers early life and his struggles to better himself. About how he visited the United States as a young man, how he led his life and how he finally returned to England and Hull, marrying and becoming a well respected Pork Butcher in the city.
My father Charles Uebel wished to become an architect but on the death of his father was forced to abandon this aspiration so he could carry on the family business. The eventual decline of the business due to the redevelopment of its customer base forced my father Charles to change his career late in life and go into the licensing trade. I carried on in that business and now in retirement I want to trace my family history. My wife and I are childless so being the last Uebel here I so want to know my history before I am no more.
Histres advises that surname was originally Übel in German (with an Umlaut).
