On June 3, 1915, Robert Fulton, 19, enlisted in the Canadian Armed Services. He declared that he was born in Belfast, Ireland; that his next of kin was his mother, Ellen Jane Fulton, who resided at 21 Fourth, Belfast, Ireland; that his date of birth was December 14, 1896; that he was a labourer; and that he was not married. He was described as 5 foot 9 inches; dark complexion; brown eyes; dark brown hair. He was a member of the Methodist faith. He had a slight left side varicocele and two vaccination marks on his left arm.
