In 1887, Sarah Ann Hodgkinson arrived in Canada with a group of 8 children from the Church of England?s Waifs and Strays Society, London, England en route to Quebec and Ontario, Canada.

"Copy of Reports of Inspection of Pauper Children sent out to Canada made by Immigration Officers of the Dominion Government and received from the Colonial Office on the 12th December 1888.

Sarah Anne Hodgkinson, aged 13. From Uttoxeter Union. Placed with Rev. Mr. Faulconer, St. Sylvestre, County of Lotbiniere, Province Quebec.--Mrs. Faulconer pleased with her, good health, well clad, comfortable home, good child, quite satisfied with her place."

On May 8, 1899, at Saint Stephen Church, Chambly, Quebec, Canada, a marriage was registered between Sarah Ann Hodgkinson and William Roberts, labourer.
