A death registration was found for Hannah Lawton; Date: Jan-Feb-Mar 1877; Age: 25; District: Stoke Upon Trent; County: Staffordshire; Volume: 6b; Page: 182.

A death registration was found for Herbert Lawton; Date: Apr-May-Jun 1881; Age: 36; District: Stoke Upon Trent; County: Staffordshire; Volume: 6b; Page: 127.

In 1883, Hannah Lawson, 8 (along with sister, Sarah Lawson, 11), arrived at Quebec, Canada, in a group of 126 young persons from several Boards of Guardians to various destinations.

"Report of Mr. John Smith, Government Immigration Agent at Hamilton, Ontario, on girls brought out from the West Derby and State Workhouses by Miss Rye as of December 18, 1884.

This child was adopted by the family and the girl had a very good home, but had to be returned to the home at Niagara for general bad conduct, December 27th, 1883. She was afterwards sent, to Colin Blake, farmer, Lyons, being adopted by them and returned for bad conduct. On the 30th April 1884 she was taken by B. Whyte, farmer, Lyons. The last home is rather a rough one, but the people are honest and are doing their best for the child that they can.

Hannah Lawton, aged 8, from parish of Stoke-upon-Trent, placed with Miss Rye's Home, Niagara, Ontario. This child's name is Lawson; adopted by John Brown Thorold, returned to Miss Rye and placed with Colin Blake Lyons, afterwards transferred to R. Whyte, who returned her to Miss Rye, who placed her with Arthur Yocum, farmer, Nelles Corners, for adoption; the child is now doing better, her surroundings being much more in her favour; she attends day and Sunday school, and goes to church."
