NotesIn 1901, Charles Cleaver, 5 years of age, was residing at 114 Middlemore Road, Smethwick, Staffordshire, England. Other family members included: Thomas Cleaver, 3; Elizabeth Cleaver, 39; Henry Cleaver, 15, barber apprentice; Joseph Cleaver, 12; Samuel Cleaver, 17; Herbert Cleaver, 1; Walter Cleaver, 7; and Wiliam Cleaver, 40, iron striker in forge. In 1909, Charles Cleaver, 12 (along with his brothers, Thomas Cleaver, 10, and Herbert Cleaver, 9) arrived at Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, with a group of 130 children en route to various destinations in Nova Scotia and New Brunswick.
