In 1910, George A. Davies, 10 (along with his brother, Victor Davies, 7), arrived in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, with a group of 154 children.

In 1911, George Davis, 11, is shown as the adopted son of Gorman and Catherine McEachern of Eldon, Queens, Prince Edward Island, Canada. His date of birth is shown as October 1899 and his immigration year as 1910.

His daughter, Marie MacGregor, shared George's obituary with Pier 21 - Canada's Immigration Museum ({website}pier21.ca/research/collections/the-story-collection/online-story-collection/british-home-children/):

George A Davies

Relatives and friends were saddened to hear of the passing of George A. Davies at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital on September 15, 1982, following a brief illness. Born in Handsworth, England, October 28, 1899. He was the son of the late George A. and Lucy Ann (Permberton) Davies.

In 1910 he immigrated to Canada, being kindly cared for by a foster mother the late Miss Catherine MacEachern of Eldon. George continued his studies at Eldon School.

In 1917 as a young man he enlisted in the R.N.C.U.R. where he served aboard the H.M.C.S. Niaobe and the H.M.C.S. Festubert. From 1940-1945 he served with the Veterans Guard of Canada.

In 1922 he married Janie Maria Penny. She predeceased him on April 8, 1972. He was also predeceased by a son George on May 31, 1933 and a brother John on June 4th, 1934. Following a carpentry course, he later chose farming for a career. George, affectionately known to his family as "Pop" was a compassionate man who was liked and respected by all who knew him.

Left to mourn his passing are three sons and five daughters: Howard, Eldon; Marie (Mrs. Fred MAcGregor) Charlottetown; Evelyn, Charlottetown; Minnie(Mrs. Nelson Blanchard), Parkedale; John, Sherwood; Margaret (Mrs. Elwood Weatherbie), Millview; Lester, Truro; Edith (Mrs. George Wesko), Fredericton. A brother Victor, Boston, Mass., and a sister, Mrs. Gwendoline Leach, Handsworth, England. Left to mourn the passing of a loving grandfather are 20 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
